Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Hi all, I've tried to call GD services and they fail. Does anyone have a simple way of scanning the servier to find out what they have installed. Check http://www.premierdisco.co.uk/phpinfo.php for a PHPINFO() output if this helps. I'd appreciate any help possible in gaining the ability to upload a photo al bum with autimatick thimbnails. I'd rather not build them here are there's a few of u s that would be uploading the the album. Robert

I seem to recall you can't resize images on the windoze boxes. -- Geoff Berrow 0110001001101100010000000110 0011011010110110010001101111011001110010 11 1001100011011011110010111001110101011010 11

That would have to be a long time ago. W2k Pro (yes, I use Windows at the moment, a linux server will be used in about 2 months..) can do it perfectly here, resizing, adding semi-transparant borders, rotating, the whole lot. And I seem to recall that at the time on my first encounter (brief at that time) with PHP in 2002 it wasn't a problem either. Not that I wouldn't recommend a real server instead of Windows, unless you really really need COM. Grtz, -- Rik Wasmus

Post Follow-up to this messageFollow up... Email from provider states... >The GD libraries are only available on the Linux hosting platform I'm afrai d, not on the windows >hosting. Pain in the butt. Why do they not document this. The bloody services cost th e same. If they'd produced this information in advance I would have went with the *n ix server. Rv!
Post Follow-up to this messageAnother email from them...so disappointing a service... Thanks for contacting us with your support enquiry. You cant change from Windows to Linux on the standard accounts, you will nee d to do the following to have this done: * Download all your emails and back up your website. * If you have a DNS or ODBC data source created on your control panel, delet e it before proceeding to the next step. * Park and delete your domain name from your old control panel: http://xtreme.fasthosts.co.uk/kbv.exe?wrap=1&ID=44 - How to park a domain Warning: Parking the domain name will delete all files in your web space, al l your email and all configuration. Adding your domain to your new hosting account: * Sign up for a new hosting account with you desired specifications at http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/hosting/ * Once the new account is set up you can contact our customer services team on support@fasthosts.co.uk or call us on 0870 8883600 to request the old accoun t to be closed, don't forget to include your owner password when requesting your account to be clo sed and just include the reason for cancellation. If you want to do all this over the phone then you can have a word with our sales department who will do this for you, they can be contact on the same number with the sales option after 09:00 Monday to Friday. We don't document any server configuration details to customers I'm afraid b ut you can confirm details of this nature with us again in the future when needed.

The latest thing was when a bunch of mail scripts stopped working. Didn't know about it until the client complained. I wouldn't have an account with them. -- Geoff Berrow 0110001001101100010000000110 0011011010110110010001101111011001110010 11 1001100011011011110010111001110101011010 11
