Opening Cursor

I have written one or two simple little applets that require a 'Start' or 'P
lay'  button to be clicked to activate. Irritatingly when the applet starts 
it displays a hand_cursor and a tool tip (usually 'Click to activate and use
 this Control') that are not part of my program. Activation then requires tw
o separate mouse clicks - the first seems to re-position the web page and th
e second sets the applet running. How can I overcome this situation ie elimi
nate the redundant cursor and activate the applet with just one click?
