You wouldn't so much cast it as serialize it, even if the serialization
is an exact binary representation of the original struct.

I don't know much about serialization... just getting into it myself. I
recommend that you re-post in microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.csharp.
There's more traffic there and there have been several discussions on
these lines in the last couple of ws.
