Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Okay - I need some help from my international folks here... :) As those of you in the states know, on Friday the DoD released the next round of recommended base closures and "realignments". My organization is projected to be moved to Hanscom AFB outside Boston, MA. I'm not too crazy about that (and neither is my better half), so I was looking on the Air Force's personnel assignment site to determine where all I might be able to go. The list just had base names, with no links or locations. I recognized most of the names, but one of the names that came up was "Melbourne". I wasn't aware of any bases there, and a search online showed nothing. However, "Asheville" also showed up - but I know from previous experience that the Air Force has an "office" in Asheville, NC. Do any of you know where this "Melbourne" might be? Florida? Canada? Australia? (I don't think the Floridian city has that "u" in it.) I certainly wouldn't mind a two-to-three-year trip to Oz. :) -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ / \ / ~ Live from Montgomery, AL! ~ ~ / \/ o ~ ~ ~ / /\ - | ~ daniel@thebelowdomain ~ ~ _____ / \ | ~ http://www.djs-consulting.com ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ GEEKCODE 3.12 GCS/IT d s-:+ a C++ L++ E--- W++ N++ o? Post Follow-up to this messageCould be Patrick Air Force base which is really Cape Canaveral...maybe you'll get to fly into space one day. It seems likely to survive primarily because of the protection required by the space program. It's considered "Melbourne Area". It's a great place for tourists - Cocoa Beach etc. Do a search and you will find that Brevard County was nervous that it would be oin the hit list. Be aware that Spring Break can get rather exciting in that part of the country.... Good Luck either way...be it FL, or AU JCE "LX-i" <lxi0007@netscape.net> wrote in message news:55b2b$4287b221$45491c57$11710@KNOLO GY.NET... > Okay - I need some help from my international folks here... :) > > As those of you in the states know, on Friday the DoD released the next > round of recommended base closures and "realignments".
