What did you search on 'Cromwell' or 'Irish' ? As regards 'Irish' many years ago, as an Irish lady used to say in Portsmouth 'There's milluns of 'em !". Even old buddies like Judson and Ken Foskey, Liam etc., were making references to the 'Irish' back in '95/'96. Frankly got fed up looking. Which means of course I didn't find the source that I was looking for, so now, without hesitation I OWE YOU ONE BIG APOLOGY No excuses but look at the quote below as your typed it. And REMEMBER this is your quote with which I didn't disagree. I read it quickly but was puzzled in my mind - 12th NOVEMBER - and that definitively sat in the back of my mind, causing a problem, saying to myself "Surely this must be 12th S-E-P-T-E-M-B-E-R ?". So the date mix-up did tend to throw me off. > 12th November, 2001 - the day after 9/11, responding to a post which impli ed > America had it coming... > ======================================== ============================== > "First off, this is NOT the time to be making such observations. Irish get over it" Again, no excuses but let's take the phrasing from your first message, and it didn't click when reading your current message but only hit like a hammer when I viewed it as a result of searching :- "The Irish are bombing the U.K in "payment" for what Cromwell did 350 years ago... (at least that is what some would have us believe; the fact that the IRA is a HUGE economic enterprise that robs Banks and commits thuggery under the umbrella of "political" action seems a more likely motivator for the continuance of their campaign, in my opinion.)" Don't disagree one bit. Now as to where my mind went on this one, take the same text but 'edited' :- "The Irish are bombing the U.K in "payment" for what Cromwell did 350 years ago... ". Reads significantly differently doesn't it ? Again no excuses - my memory cells logged on to the first part of the statement completely ignoring your qualifier. Can't be certain, but that suggests to me that's how I arrived at my observation. How so very ironic, when I agree totally with your statement as originally written. SO TRULY SORRY - but it doesn't change anything at all does it? Still you could show a little charity to Mr. Dilworth. I'm sure Tony will be disappointed, but just drop him a nice little line, "Mr. Dilworth you have been relegated to Public Enemy #2 on my hit-list". Adieu
