Well this is a very deep subject ...and it would take several hours even to 
go into it, to any real level of examination of this topic.....but the simpl
e answer is.....i hav'nt seen any documents on the specific criteria to make
 those determinations.....i
have always felt since each business is unique in it's corp structure, attit
ude, community, corropration, transperancey between internal departments and
 vendors/contractors, and obviously mangement skills of the individuals invo
lved in the project will a
lways play a much larger role in defining the internals and coeasion and or 
ease for the project...more thantools ever play

when you say a large testing project ...it does not give me much information
 to determine what you consider large, as for me i consider 6000 associates 
large, that meaning they would be using the same application on a daily basi
s....but what do you exactl
y mean?

...everything involved in Performance testing is 1st about clear communicat
ion....
every step of the way.

can anyone help?.......now here is my comment to you - "can anyone help" is 
the truest part of your entire statement.....your not trying to count how ma
ny chickens your going to get, too help you with this project....what your t
rying to do is: how will yo
u be able to orginize this project to satisfactory results & completion....a
nd if it Large project, it may take quite some time 6months +
dont bother thinking about tools right now .....because your no where near m
aking any kind of determination as to tool sets to use......

what you may want to consider is contacting IBM Global Services and paying t
hem anywhere from $50,000 - $150,000 to make those determinations for you...
.to do a complete examination and create the documentation usually about 4 t
o 6 inches thick to be able
to analyse corrective measure internally and then design a through process d
esign & plan,so you can finally understand the business cycle and the real b
usiness need for wanting to implementing this new Large Testing project

WHY????.....so you wont fail in the project
i dont know if your inept or just lazy...but you better get some help fast
i see a shit storm comeing on your back and it will over take you...

1s, t have you done any sort of internal business processes understanding of
 the departments involved, and how many dept are involved, and to what degre
e of involvment do you play and they play
what are the roles, responsilibity, of each dept head, and sub

have you met with the dept managers and sub's, to ask for a lead from each o
f the departments to liase with, is there any transperance across the orgini
zation.

do you have wly meetings to discuss the business needs, RFI, process deve
lopment,
is there a document management system in place / change log's ......who do y
ou communicate with ????......do a RFI, and do whatever you have to do to le
arn process development,


is there a core team...or is it just you ;-0
