Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.I would like to find out more information about becoming a Mirror for PHP.net. Currently offering a full suite of services revolved around PHP and would love to be able to sponsor a mirror. Only question I have is how many gigs a month does a Canadian mirror usually consume? Warmest regards, Nathan. -------------------------------------------------------------- Nathaniel S. H. Brown ph.604.724.6624 fax.604.444.9942 inimit.com | purefame.com | toolbawks.com | osevents.com

Post Follow-up to this messageHey Derek, Thanks for the link. I would like to be a stand-by Canadian mirror. As I can tell right now there is a ca.php.net and a ca3.php.net. Based on the mirrors.php, only two mirrors per country. That being said, is there a waiting list to become a mirror in Canada? Could an exception be made for a third mirror in Canada? My server is hosted on a multi-homed network with BGP-advertised address space and connections to multiple Tier-1 providers * 2 x GigE (Big Pipe, Level 3) * 1 x OC-12 (MCI) * 1 x 100 Mbps (VAIX) The bandwidth of 30GB/month is fine with me as I run a hosting company. And I currently run PHP 4.3.x which should work fine. Warmest regards, Nathan. -------------------------------------------------------------- Nathaniel S. H. Could an exception be made for a third mirror in Canada? We have no waiting lists, and we will not make exceptions. We've also had no complaints about the other canadian mirrors, so for now we are not in need of any new ones. regards, Derick

With the website mentioning "unless you have a very good reason", I do believe I have a valid reason for the ca2.php.net (which is currently non-existant), to be hosted on my infrastructure. [egateDomains] php.ca (216.235.6.145) Sioux Lookout, Ontario, CANADA [EasyDNS] php.easydns.ca (66.207.199.35) Cochrane, Ontario, CANADA Both of the existing Canadian mirrors are located on the East coast of Canada, optimized primarily for those who are on the east coast. My server backbones are situated in Vancouver, BC, Canada, where there is no mirror. Looking over the US mirrors they seem to be spread evenly over the country beneifiting all users. All I ask is that the opportunity to provide a benefit for all the Shaw, Telus and other connectivity users of the West coast have a local server which they can count on. I hope that you as a group, are able to see some merit in this reason. Regards, Nathan.
