Gcc binary compatibility chart

Does there exist any public/official information about gcc binary
compatibility?

Assume I wrote some code in C and compiled with gcc 3.4.2 can I assume it
will work on gcc 2.95? gcc 3.3.x? etc.

What about the same in C++ code? (probably no way on earth there is any
compatibility at all).
