Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Position Summary: The Systems Administrator, UNIX is responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of all the clients NA UNIX and SAN storage systems, located both at the clients NA locations as well as externally hosted. He/She works with other infrastructure and application groups in support of the clients NA user community. Key Responsibilities -Provides support for all UNIX and SAN systems in the clients NA -Provides improvement and technical upgrades of servers and SANs -Installs and configures servers and SANs -Implements monitoring of the servers, using automated tools to generate alerts -Responds to system alerts within established timeframes -Provides after-hours support as needed, including a rotating 24x7 on-call support -Travel requirement: ~ 30% Results/Accountabilities: -Servers and SAN uptime is 99.5% -Server and SAN documentation is available and up to date -Deadlines and budgets for implementation projects are respected -Enterprise operating systems are kept up to date Relationships with Others Jobs: -Works in conjunction with all infrastructure groups. -Heavy interaction with the Networking and Servers & Directory Services groups Qualification Profile: Education and Work Experience: -Bachelor Degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Technology or related field -5 or more years of experience implementing UNIX operating systems -3-5 years of experience implementing SAN -3 plus years of experience in supporting ERP environments Knowledge and Skills: -Excellent practical knowledge of HP UX, Tru64 UNIX -Strong analytical and problem solving skills -Self-driven, self-motivated, results-oriented, customer service oriented and an effective team player.
