Post Follow-up to this messageI think what stuart is trying to say is ... If some one is kind enough to share what they have it will be nice of them to share it with other wanna be practitioners (like me and stuart). Please if someone has got past exam papers, tip and techniques, and if someone has attended an accredited course or has got note that they could donate, we will both really appreciate it. I am in a deadend job, and not getting paid enough and there is no hope in hell that I will ever get someone paying 3k to attend a training course and release me off work for two ws. So any help to fellow testers would be appreciated. Please help friends. jonclarkccnp@hotmail.com wrote in message news:<1113552966.934515.214330@z14g2000cwz.google groups.com>... > Try the audio learning products from www.universalexams.com

I suggest you look at the syllabus at http://www.bcs.org/NR/rdonlyres/C5F...yll.p df if you haven't already done that. It tells you what you need to know to pass the exam. Systeme Evolutif do have a self study course for the practicioner exam that can be taken over the net or on a CD. http://www.evolutif.co.uk/default.a...sebrochure.html There is also a book called "The Testing Practitioner" that is somewhat linked to the practicioner exam but I don't know how much it would help with the exam, because I haven't read it. http://www.utn.nl/boeken/testpract/index.html

If I really thought that a course was worth 3k in respect of my employment prospects (but as far as ISEB practitioner goes, I don't) I'd perhaps think of making the investment myself (i.e. getting a loan, even sticking it on a credit card if need be). Getting 2 w
s off? That'd be called holidays, I think you'll be legally entitled to them. Presumably your current employer doesn't see the benefit of the ISEB practitioner qualification either, so how about you start looking for a new job and specify that you want to be placed on the course as part of your career progression in the new job? There seems to be a bit of a shortage of testers at the moment, it might work. Mark.

Post Follow-up to this messageStu, I emailed you today mate from my other hotmail email address ... let me know ur details and i shall send u some stuff. Some of these guys are a total waste of space. They are responding just for the sake of sing an acknowledgement for their sorry ass existance. Negative individuals, who are neither willing to get certified themself and neither they want to see some one else go down the certification road. The only suggestion you can expect from them is "change your job". No wonder the testing profession is in a bad state that it is in. Thanks to 'mindless' knobs end sitting in the management seats, who care about no one else but their own image, and bonus. When it comes to investment in staff, or staff retention they dont have a clue, and wonder why people have left. I have test standards as well, and soon i will be getting my sample exam questions which i shall glad pass on to you. I might have some revision note on foundation also. However, the links that i passed on to you for british standard BS7925-2, if your friends are attempting the foundation course, they should know it well.. front to back. I was lucky when i took my foundation exam there were very few questions which required analysis of pseudo code to generate an answer. This was not the case with a colleague of mine. I have tried asking people for help online, there are very few people who are interested.
Post Follow-up to this messageThanks for the suggestion mark. Not a lot of employers let you take time off work for the sake of training. I will work hard when i can and get this certification, or alteast try it out to see if i can hack it. If I cant, then i will try again. 2 wholiday... ur damn right here,,, my family is more imortant to me than work. That time i can let go. One other reason why i can not progress as fast as i would like to (in terms of getting certified ) is because i dedicate my time to my family. different priorities. Career progression?. Wtf is that?. How many companies genuinely give you that? - Most of the companies want people pretrained ... who can fit in... they are in it for themself, when it comes to people.. they dont give a flying F*&K. Managers who are too busy looking at their SLA's, targets and deadlines, meetings, and keeping customers happy... and the pot of mony that is allocated to them. I am looking to move into sernior roles, team leading, test mangement...One thing is for sure, if in the next year i cant pass it on my own, i shall put it on a credit card (which i dont have at the moment.) I also agree that the market is hot at the moment and i perceive it to stay hot for the next year or two. so plenty of time to move on.
