It took some doing, I actually used the M$ Excel product -- I really want to exercise some 2nd amendment rights upon whomever designed that stupid little Mac128 agent. (the paperclip in the windoze version) I took the DOD population representation survey and mixed it with the 2004 electoral vote. It shows military enlistment by percent of population by state and enlistments per electoral vote. You can find the full table at "www.zitzelberger.net/index.html". The data used was for 2002 enlistments, the most recent year available. D.C. is included as a state because I had data for it. The population figures are from the reapportionment census. Some interesting details: - Washington, The first blue state to appear is 19th ranked in military enlistment. - Only 3 blue states appear in the top 30. - The bottom of the table is solid blue, the top, solid red. This tends to support my contention that the army is populated by 'red state types'. Enjoy.
