email button needs two clicks

Hi,
I am building an app that uses the SMTP messaging.  When I push the
"send" button, the screen closes and nothing happens.  Then when I
re-open the screen and click it again, then it works (my ZoneAlarm shows
me).
Anybody know how I can fix this?
