Toolbar question

I am using c6.1 trying to get the toolbar to work properly but having a
problem.
I set the toolbar icon to call a procedure. If I use the menu bar to call
the same procedure while the procedure called by the toolbar is still
active, I get an error message and get thrown out of the program. I must be
doing something wrong....Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
