Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Hi folks, I need to know whether there're any works on quantization matrices design for residual image (inter- frame like P or B frame in H.26x). It seems lots of theory on QM design could only apply to JPEG-like intra frames. Anybody here could recommend any works or people? Thanks in advance... Rgds, Schwarz

Have a look at the CQM threads on www.doom9.org. They invent new intra and inter matrices for MPEG4-ASP. Inter is what you are looking for. Most people there work empirically but some use profound theoretical background as well. bis besser, Tobias
Post Follow-up to this messageHi Tobia, Thanks for your reply! I went through the discussions in doom9 forum but did not find the CQM thread you mentioned above. It turns out that some guys just adjusted QM manually, I wonder if you could post the thread link. what I am interested in is design custom inter QM based on HVS model. Hope you could help...thanks REgards, Schwarz

Hope you could help...thanks Sharktooth is one of the more advanced people there. He uses HVS models to generate his matrices. Look here for a thread where he introduces his set of CQMs: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83125 But the quality judgement for a matrix has to be subjective! Those models only help in generating good candidates. "In our eyes we trust" bis besser, Tobias
