Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Has anyone else tried to use the newgroup reader in IE with Windows XP/SP2 a t 1920X1200 resolution and 120 DPI fonts. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 9100 notebook with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 display adapter at this native resolution and the pages hangup Internet Explorer when you select them. If I lower the resolution, the everything works. I personally have not had a chance to debug this issue. Thanks, Michael

Michael, I have a 9100 with Radeon 9800 and Outlook Express works fine at that resolution with SP2. However, I'm running at 96dpi. The first thing I did when I got the system was reformat it because I could visibly see less than on my 1280x1024 desktop at 120dpi. The auto scaling of fonts/icons that Dell installs by default makes having such a system a nonsense, to me at least. Have you applied all the MS updates? Perhaps there's a newer ATI driver? I also found a lot of helpful items about this system in the Dell forum on the US web site. HTH, Loz.
Post Follow-up to this messageLawrence: I'm using IE to view the newsgroup, not Outlook Express. Everything is also up to date. Or are you going to some web site to read a specific group? If you give me the link, I'll try it on my system. Loz.

XP/SP2 I only have SP1 but I have no problem with IE or OE at 2048x1536, 1920x1440, 1920x1200, or the usual resolution I use which is 1856x1392. I have a Dell Dimension 2300 with the on-board graphics in an Intel Extreme controller. I've never had any problem with OE at any resolution on any system that I've used up to 2048x1536 resolution in WinXP or Win2K -- but I do not have SP2 and I do not have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 so all I can assure you is that the program seems to be fine at those screen dimensions. Post Follow-up to this messageI want to make sure I'm clear. I'm using the web-based version of the newsgroup with IE6 not the NNTP version in Outlook Express or anything else . Is that what everyone else is using? Michael "Michael" wrote: > Has anyone else tried to use the newgroup reader in IE with Windows XP/SP2 at > 1920X1200 resolution and 120 DPI fonts. Post Follow-up to this messageI'm using the NNTP version but I've looked at the web-version for groups I don't read regularly from time to time and I've never had a problem. Is there a specific group that's giving you a problem? Would you post the URL so we can try it too? Post Follow-up to this messageNo they all give me trouble. It looks like the page is about to be completely loaded then IE just hangs consuming 100% CPU like in a race condition. I know someone else who has this system and maybe I'll try their machine with their user profile to see if everything works. Post Follow-up to this messageI guess I don't understand what you're asking for.
