how can I do it with perl

Hi everybody,

Do any one know how to use addresses in perl regular expression?! The questi
on in another form is how can I perform this sed script


$ sed '0,/^[ \t\r\n]*$/d' somefile

on a scalar variable. This sed script intend to delete lines in a file start
ing from the first ine untill finding a blank line
