If you build/run an X11 based Tk is is identical to any other *nix Tk - (and apple gives you the X11 server that runs on OSX) There is also a native Aqua (the GUI part of OSX) port of Tk which is very nearly as good. There has been a lot of hard work on it and it shows, it looks & runs well. There are still a few rough edges in a couple of spots, but I still use it. check out the tcl-mac mailing list for more info/details And above & beyond Tk I would definitely recommend making the switch. It's 8.4.7.
