UPDATE mysql_pconnect and mysql_connect hangs

I've disabled the firewalls and copied php5ts.dll and libmysql, etc. to
the right directories. I've also tried apache 1. and php 4. and I got
the same problem. if anyone knows what is causing those functions to
hang please help.

Hi, I was wondering whether you managed to solve the issue? - I have exactly
 the same problem here; I tried all suggestions, and have run out of ideas.
