Has anyone told you to use that specific compiler or do you just need any Fortran compiler, so that you can practice your programming skills for your exam? If the latter is the case then you could give g95 a try. Hope it helps, Stig Kildegård

That was a commercial product, distributed only on CD. It's been out of production for some time, and was never much good in the first place.

That was a copyrighted commercial product. Downloading it would be illegal. Needing it for an exam doesn't actually change that. 2. It has not been available for quite a few years, except used. (I don't know whether its license allowed resale or not.) 3. It was a pretty poor compiler anyway. 4. If your class requires that particular compiler, then I recommend finding a different prof. :-( If you just need a Fortran compiler, rather than that particular one, there are several available. Some options are even legally free. See other postings here. People are likely to be much more helpful with that. -- Richard Maine | Good judgment comes from experience; email: my first.last at org.domain | experience comes from bad judgment. org: nasa, domain: gov | -- Mark Twain

Other posters have mentioned all the information about this being a commercial product, offered other "free and legal" options, etc. However, if you are determined to find this particular compiler, it may be available 2 places (NOT for free): 1) eBay - very seldom found there as a separate product, but a command-line version was included with Digital Visual Fortran, v5, which is still offered from time to time. 2) EMS Professional Software (http://www.emsps.com/oldtools/) has the following, according to its web site: a) FORTRAN Powerstation 4.0, Standard, CD; $395, includes CD with key, license agreement and manuals. No box or registration card. b) FORTRAN PowerStation 4.0, Professional, Upgrade, CD; $795, in retail box with license agreement and unused registration cards. See version information for liberal upgrade rules. c) FORTRAN PowerStation 4.0, Professional, CD: $1950, shrinkwrap retail box. Perfect condition except for 3 inch by 1 inch tear in shrinkwrap on box rear. Very rare in this condition. NOTE the HIGH prices for a compiler with a poor reputation. If you find this compiler, you will need the patch to fix a problem with memory leaks associated with certain string usage. Microsoft no longer distributes this patch, despite repeated requests to do so. Links to some MS Fortran patches are give at the following URL at the Fortran Library: http://www.fortranlib.com/freesoft....tware%20Patches Both links appear to be broken at the present time. The link to a Russian site for the PowerStation patch was established because MS would not allow posting of the patch in the US. The link to earlier version MS Fortran patches is also broken, apparently because MS reorganized it's downloads once again. If you acquire a LEGAL version of the compiler, I can e-mail you the patch for Powerstation v4. I will not help you with an illegal compiler. Jeff Ryman email: rymanjc_at_ excite_dot_com

First of all, it is not for me, but for my boyfriend. I mentioned the exam, because he hates programming and he doesn't want to bu y it to use just for an exam.. so i wondered if there were a freeware.. or a shareware.. just the time of the exam ;-) If it is not a good program.. well I agree.. I program in other languages ;- ) Anyway I will look for other versions.. maybe they will fit anyway. If I'll have further problems, I will torture you ;-) (joke!) Bye bye Ciao Silvia. -- www.silvietta.it ...everyone's invited! Kann ein herz auf stein sein??
