java upload servelet from a non programmer, ideas any help?
Hello,

I am new to a company and one of my projects is to make a upload script and
in time make a download one as well.
I am not a programmer and had just a 3 w crash course on J++ back in
1999.
The server they want to put this on is a Red Hat 6.2. The machine runs
LuminX software and its a Lin server.
Also the LuminX people will update and make changes to the server and we do
not have as much knowledge on the system. This is what is installed on it.

luminx@www src]$ ls
apache_1.3.26 mod_ssl-2.8.10-1.3.26

apache_1.3.26.tar.gz mod_ssl-2.8.10-1.3.26.tar.gz

dbcdx.tar old_LIN

hipaacomsvr openssh-3.4p1.tar.gz

hipaacomsvr01.cfg openssl-0.9.6e

htdocs.tar.gz openssl-0.9.6e.tar.gz

j2sdk-1_3_1_01-linux-i386.bin startup_scripts.tar

jakarta-servletapi-4-src templates.tar.gz

jakarta-servletapi-4-src.tar.gz tomcat-deps.tar

jakarta-tomcat-4.0-src tomcat.tar.gz

jakarta-tomcat-4.0-src.tar.gz tripwire-2.3-47.bin.tar.gz

keepalive.tar tripwire-2.3-47.i386.tar.gz

lxcomsvr webapp-module-1.0-tc40

lxcomsvr.tar webapp-module-1.0-tc40-src.tar.gz

[luminx@www src]$

I have been searching the web for a upload script in Perl, php, or java. I
would like to keep it as native and have a Java servlet to do the job since
Java is already loaded on the system. I am told its not just write a servlet
and put it up in say cgi-bin or where ever one would be placed, and with
out making major changes to others files already in the system, I am up for
ideas. The TomCat is Java base and we thought Perl was loaded, but I do not
see any source for Perl. I have found uploadbean lite, and a few php upload
scripts and have tried to work with them.

I even loaded 1.3 apache win32 on my windows 2k machine with Microsoft's
Unix services for Windows 3.5 I think it is to try to get a working upload
script to develope and then try toport to the unix system.

I am not a programmer and my Unix skills are between beginner and
intermediate. We do not want to install any more on the server than needed.
We do have 2 servers, the Live and the test so if we had to install more we
could possibly do it on the Test system if it would not affect the LuminX
and Lin server functions.

I may have to ask this as well in the perl newsgroup, since when I try a web
search for Java upload script I get alot of links to Perl and PHP scripts.
Any tried and true web sites with good code or examples are welcomed.

Sincerely,

Chad
