I would imagine that if you're looking at 'heavy method',
Carnegie Mellon would be well up there.

I only have direct experience with Penn State Great Valley,
which I found to be, in general, a school which provides
a lot of directly useful techniques. I won't pretend,
however, that it is one of the greats.

Mac,

Look for colleges with accredited degrees in your field of
interest. Iowa State University isn't high on the list,
but it is accredited. Not sure if all levels though. I
went through the Comp Sci dept. The Comp Eng dept may also
be acc.

There is a national list. I don't recall where I found it.
Perhaps your school counselor would know where to look.

I'm not sure how much that'd help. Graduate programs don't
seem to be as commonly accredited as undergrad programs.

And I'm not sure there even *is* such a thing as accreditation
of software engineering graduate programs (as opposed to
general computer science).

Re: Advice on "Software Engineering" university ranks
Hello,

I finally found a good website which prepares a ranking based upon
important parameters you determine.

http://www.phds.org/rankings

For example you say number of full professores and education
effectiveness is important for you and it prepares the ranking.

Anyway thank you for your help everyone.

Mac
