StreamReader escaping my file?

Hi,

I'm reading a (HTM) file into a streamreader. When I call the
ReadToEnd method, the resulting string seems to have been "escaped".
(e.g. tabs to \t, quotes to \") etc.

Is there a reason for this? Can it be prevented?
