If I were trying to refute it, I would have gone a lot further than > simply stating my own interpretation. I was typing something else but then noticed your last line "... simply stating my own interpretation". So it's YOUR interpretation, and nothing to do with the pastor or denomination. (Apologies if that appeared earlier and I didn't pick up on it). So in your readings you establish 'your interpretation' of the Word of God. Then you quiz why these papists have got it wrong. You could have done the same with any other denomination, but not on this 'father' bit - well perhaps you could, I think some Anglicans, (Anglo-Catholic) might be called 'Father'- some still use the pre-Vatican II style mass. Doesn't modesty prevail here a little. Don't you feel just a tiny bit uncomfortable setting your sole interpretation against a denomination which has been around for 2,000 years with a whole bevy of scholars and theologians, who have devoted their lives to get texts and dogma correct ? A sincere one, I have no doubt, but you are a hobbyist as regards the Bible compared to the full-time employed theologians. > One thing I find confusing that a monolithic institution like the > Roman Catholic church applies different rules in different localities. > For example, priests in the U.S. are forbidden to marry, yet in Africa > most priests are married. What I'm illustrating above is that you make an incorrect statement then ask for an answer based on your incorrect assumptions. Now while we are on "What Jews Believe", care to answer the following which you managed to avoid previously. (I know my answer, what's yours ?) :- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- >Judson : The Bible does not say how many will get into Heaven! > Pete : Yes it does. Revelation 7:1 - 8, amplified further in > Revelation 14: 1 - 5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Why are we even bothering if it is only 144,000 from the tribes of Israel who are going to make it up to Heaven. Moses and Jerry must be laughing all the way to the bank. Jimmy
