Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Some things that would make Open Dylan more accessible to first time Windows users would be improvements to the installer. I think the missing steps are documented. The default path for output is especially unfriendly. It would be good to create the output EXEs somewhere a little less obscure than C:\Documents and Settings\Fred Bloggs\Application Data\Open-Dylan The current location means that windows does not even search for them.

The default for generated .exe and .dll files in both unix and Windows is <user-home-directory>/Open-Dylan/bin . You can change your Windows home directory by setting (if I recall correctly) HOMEDRIVE, HOMEPATH and USERNAME. I'm no Windows expert, but I assume you don't want them to be put in with the Windows system .exes and .dlls, so what's a better place to put them? -Carl ps. I'd personally like to see us use ~/opendylan instead of ~/Open- Dylan.
