Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups. Our company has been in business for over 18 years, providing I.T. staff augmentation services to mostly large corporations in California. As you're well aware, our industry has been impacted by the growing offshoring trend, especially in the application development area. About a year ago, we saw this trend coming, and grew very concerned about growing number of displaced Domestic I.T. workers, as well as what this could potentially mean to our domestic programmers, industry and business. As we polled our clients, we found that almost all of them were not pleased to be offshoring their work. However, given the constant pressure to reduce costs and gain efficiencies, as well as their increasing workload, most felt like they had little choice but to seriously consider the overseas worker. Armed with this information, we went to several of our large clients and asked them that if we could come up with a way to make the Domestic I.T. worker competitive with the offshore worker, would they be interested. All of them expressed a strong interest. To make a long story short, we were able to deliver, and have since engaged in three successful pilots. We wrote a White Paper in August, which has lead to the development of our website, (the link is listed below). The site has been out about 60 days, and the traffic has been steadily increasing. If you would like to read our White Paper, "The Business Case For The Homeland Onshore Model", and you can register for it at our website. The point is, that if given a chance and a level playing field, the American I.T. worker CAN compete with the offshore firms, especially given the hidden costs and risks.
