Graphics for technical measurement application

I am writing an application to store oil analysis measurements, - need
graphs.
I am looking for a solution where the end-user can select (tickmark)
from approx. 30 different measurements (i.e. database fields), and see
a trend graph for the selected elements.
The database record selection is easy, but can not find a simple way
to post them to a graph.
Using 6.0 EE, so graph template is available, but I don't know if I
can use it for this purpose.
Ideas or solutions ?
