DomainWatchDog (TM)

Since many of you probably manage domains and servers for your
customers, and you of course are interested in Clarion apps, I just
wanted to let you all know I have just released a domain management
utility (current in Beta) I have written (over the last 2.5 years as
time has allowed) using 100% hand coded Clarion 5.5ee. The application
is available at:

The current version includes a time limited license file which
eliminates the 5 domain limit. The final release will be freeware but
limited to 5 domains. Licenses will be $80 for each instance of
DomainWatchDog(TM) a user runs and will eliminate the 5 domain limit.
Final release will hopfully occur in the next couple of months.

I probably should have also included some other reasons to look at the
app :)

1) Contains integrated debug tools similar to Sam Spade

- Trace Route
- Universal Whois which includes most private company third level
domains
- Discovers and test EMail servers
- Get all DNS information by traversing directly from ROOT server thus
all results are *CURRENT* and not stale cache data
- Lookup IP block
- Good Old Ping
- One click ability to EMail results to peer when debugging as a team

2) Archives DNS settings and does realtime checks reporting changes
when they occur. DNS is displayed in a very nice easy to read
"HUMANIZED" format, not cryptic DIG outputs.

- Does same for Whois settings to detect attempted domain theft for
example
- Does same for HTTP & HTTPS server files to verify server is
operating and returning expected values
- Single click Archived value / Current value automatic comparisions

3) Whois auto parser

- Auto parses and populates; Creation Date, Expiration Date,
Registrar, etc.

4) Contains a *COMPLETE* HTTP server

- Database Search tool takes advatange of HTML code for nicely /
dynamically formatting reports
- Reports are *INTERACTIVE*, that is clicking on items in a report
commands the OS/EXE windows to display the proper context for the item
click on in the HTML report
- Database search result also command the OS/EXE windows
- The Debug tools are also available via the HTTP server to allow you
to remotely look into you local network if you wish.

5) Contains an EMail server (outgoing only, no receive function)

- Does not require any Windows OS email setup
- Automatically lookups MX records from the ROOT server system to the
domain autority and then talks directly to the specified email server.

6) The overall intention of the app was to have automation make sure
whois, servers, and server settings remain in a specified state and
then report when anything changs. This is really nothing new as many
apps and services do the same thing. However,

- Other apps and services use their local DNS servers which cache data
for the records TTL settings. DomainWatchDog(TM) *NEVER* caches DNS or
uses cached DNS and so it's test immediately detects all changes --
Benefit of allways looking up from the ROOT to verify realtime
settings

- Other apps and services tend to leave you hanging once a change
occurs. DomainWatchDog(TM)'s BetterWhois(TM) tools integrates into the
archived settings and so allows you to quickly see exactly what
settings have changes and where (where in the case of DNS or Email).

- Other apps and services do not include a database which is driven by
a Whois auto parser. Just click on Build Report to see a nice table of
domains by expiration month. Or see what email addresses are asociated
with what Domain names, what DNS servers are associated with what
domain names, how many domains you have at a specific registrar and
what domains are held at each, and a lot more. The reports can make
managing these settings a real snap!

- Each domain has a completely seperate Notes section and the
Registrar list also includes notes and minimal contact manager.
Optional BlowFish encryption is available to encrypt your registrar
table to keep you information private -- Without entering the correct
password DomainWatchDog will not start, and the password is not stored
anywhere in the app only it's MD5 value is stored as a check but even
the MD5 value is subjected to BlowFish encryption.


And again, 100% Clarion and Windows OS calls, no DLL's or other
external dependencies.
