I've seen this sort of thing before and all sorts of icons seem to get mixed up. On my XP box right now I've got HotFixes, and other Microsoft software, using the Quicken for Windows icon. I've also got examples of other entries using the wrong icons. In my case, on my XP box, only one of them is incorrectly displaying the WEG icon. > Thanks for all your work. [SNIP] If it's anything like NT/98, a quick search for "ShellIconCache" should find you a solution. IIRC, it's as simple as deleting the file, but don't take my word for it. :) -- Ray Marron

What, you think I've got all afternoon to spend restoring my machine? <FX: dribbles onto keyboard and mumbles in an incoherent way while trying to eat a copy of Petzold>. I did try TweakUI's icon-fix option and that didn't seem to make one jot of difference. Being the total coward I am when it comes to this sort of thing I'm more than happy for Windows to beabout uninstaller icons. -- Dave Pearson | OSLib - Timeslice release functions. http://www.davep.org/ | eg - Norton Guide reader for Linux . http://www.davep.org/clipper/ | weg - Norton Guide reader for Windo ws. http://www.davep.org/norton-guides/ | dgscan - DGROUP scanner for Clipper.

Be brave! However, before you ask, I will *not* be driving for 3 hours to bail you out when it all goes pear-shaped ;-) >I did try TweakUI's icon-fix option and that didn't seem to make one jot of >difference. TweakUI's icon-fix is only for desktop icons, which can also become badly
sometimes.

For some reason I thought that it fixed all of the shell icons. -- Dave Pearson | OSLib - Timeslice release functions. http://www.davep.org/ | eg - Norton Guide reader for Linux . http://www.davep.org/clipper/ | weg - Norton Guide reader for Windo ws. http://www.davep.org/norton-guides/ | dgscan - DGROUP scanner for Clipper.

Note that this is a hidden file. Maybe you should just rename it for safety ;-) BTW, I just looked at mine & it's over 5Mb !!! > >Pants! Err, the fan's making odd noises... > So? Yup, got that there. So, tried deleting yours yet (he says, hoping to find a sucker to try it before I do <g> )? > Trust M$ to not only change the name, but also where it lives! > > Note that this is a hidden file. Anyway, thanks for that; if this ever becomes an FAQ in regard to something like WEG I'll keep this in mind. Might also now be worth a Google on the issue... > > So? Just turn the background music up & pretend I've fixed it. Ooo, nice fix! How fortuitous that my /Guns 'n' Roses Greatest Hits/ turned up in the post this morning.
