Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

The conflated cache problem is solved.

I have updated the CDML custom plugin page (
http://smarty.incutio.com/?page=TheCDMLPlugin ) with the new code that
writes a unique filename *and* protects the file (probably redundant
functionalities now).
