Exactly. The other feeling I remember having is along the lines of,
"I've just paid a hundred dollars an hour for an expert opinion. I
deserve to know for sure that it was the CPA herself who wrote this
up, and who is responsible for it, and not just some intern sending
out the text under the CPA's letterhead."

I believe it is this kind of accountability which is behind the
"signature requirement", whether it be ink-pen or ER/ES (established
by secure password.)
