Maybe he was showing her what it meant in Texas.  I don't think it's
nearly as much as you're making it out to be...

Who knows?  Bush is at his best when he skips the script and shoots from
the hip (pardon the pun)...

(Oddly enough, flag desecration has been ruled to be protected
expression under the First Amendment to our Constitution.  So, while
some people would probably be righteously indignant, nothing much would
have happened.)
