My plan would be to structure this POE tutorial in a
similar manner as Stein's book "Official Guide to
Programming with CGI.pm"

I like the layout of the book.

I've never read the book, so I can't say. :) Mr. Stein is highly
regarded, so I'll trust you on this.

that covers #1 and part of #2. I can provide a PDF of the handout
(mostly a copy of the slides) if you think it would help.

I've proposed another OSCON tutorial for this year covering parts of
#3 and #4. If it's accepted, I'll be beating my head on a new
presentation for the next few months. Wish me luck!

Historically POE hasn't defined best practices for component
interfaces, but David Davis is leading the group to change all that.
Hopefully he'll chime in with a status report. :)

I believe the content for a POE tutorial has already
been written down. My goal is to organize it a concise
manner.
