Author Legal aspects of shareware sites

I notice that most shareware sites ask the contributor to indemnify them
against just about everything. If a customer downloads my program from a
shareware site and after a trial period buys a key to unlock the program
from my own web site, then does he have a contract with me or with the
shareware site?

As far as I know, if a customer purchases a key from you, that customer
has made an agreement with only you. The shareware website is simply
offering a large number of titles, making it convenient for the
potential customer, but unless you specifically sign up for an affiliate
program with it, the shareware site would have the same function as
someone taking the trial and passing it to his/her friend.
