Hosting for e-commerce transactions

| Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for hosting of e-commerce
transactions. Basically, instead of using swreg or shareit, I want to
roll my own purchase process and tie it in with my key generation tool.
I'm looking for something affordable and secure - any suggestions?

No suggestions, but if all you want is to
tie in your key generator then you may
find one of th standard registration sites
may be able to help here...

Indeed. I use ShareIt and I wrote my own "Codemaster" tool that uses
the same DLL that I send them.

| Hi Gerry,
The one thing I don't like about ShareIT is that the purchase process
is too long for me. I really want to have a 1 step purchase page for my
customers - no shopping cart, just the ability to choose from a few
products and purchase them... With shareIt, from what I read on thier
website, I don't have control over this piece (infact, this is the
problem with almost all the companies providing an 'easy' way to sell
shareware).

What you're describing, you can do with SWREG. They actually are very
flexible, and with their "Super Advanced" level, you can have everything on
your own site, but let them do the credit card processing. But you don't
need to go that far.
If you look at either mine or my husband's order pages,
mine: http://www.aceicons.com/order.php
Arnor's: http://www.icetips.com/orderpage.php
you will see that the customer can select from different things, then will
go straight into SWREG's ordering system. HOWEVER, this is a very old way
of doing it, because SWREG now has a template-based system you can use in
their "intermediate level" that allows you to customize their order pages
(via templates) so that they look like your site. We need to change our
sites to take advantage of that.
But if you only have one product, you can do the one-product-ordering too.
See http://www.mysetups.com/order.php Again, the SWREG order pages haven't
been customized yet to look like the site, but we'll get to that. ;) The
point here is, you can have one-click ordering with no shopping cart
whatsoever at SWREG.
I think you're on the right track - wanting to make the ordering process as
painless as possible. The easier it is to make the sale, the better chance
you have of getting the sale. But I think you can accomplish what you want
with SWREG (at least), and maybe others. Doing so would probably be the
best use of your time. And then, you can take all the time you saved on not
writing/implementing your own shopping cart and merchant account, and use it
to market your software, and make even more money. ;)
