what, specifically, is a unix server-side qa person?

i work with a software development group that provides client and
exchange connectivity for a large wall street firm. they have asked
me to find the above-mentioned professional but i'm not sure i really
understand what they want. and it seems to me that all of the qa
people that i have contacted thus far are working on the front end
applications. can anyone help me on how to distinguish a true server-
side qa pro? although this is not a management job, it is a senior
level spot and i need to identify people with the appropriate skills
and experience to warrant the subsatntial compensation they are
offering.

TIA
