Because you want to do functional testing of a web
application, you ought to use a system in which the test bed
is a browser (because that's where the functional action is).
By implementing all of its test and analysis functions
entirely in a browser, the eValid web testing solution gives
you web application analysis and testing capabilities that are
always 100% from the client perspective.
Functional test scripts in eValid are easy to record, easy to
modify, have excellent resiliency (due to eValid's adaptive
playback feature), and have excellent repeatability.
You can download your evaluation copy of eValid V7 from:
http://www.e-Valid.com/Products/Dow...tml?status=FORM
Full details about the eValid web analysis and testing suite
can be found at:

| I agree with Adam.. Just to add to what Adam is saying, in my opinion
( based on my limited knowledge ) Selenium is one of the best tool
around for web application testing because of its ability to cover
many types of browsers/platform. Also, instead of developing your
automation scripts in vendor specific language, you can use language
of your choice like Ruby, Perl, Java and so on.. you can read more
about Selenium at http://testingg .com/selenium.asp And yes it is
open source and free as well :) Hope it helps..

| Also you can also have a look on WatiN (http://
watin.sourceforge.net/).
It's a framework inspired based on WatiR, but to be use in .Net
environment. Although, It only work with Internet Explorer.

He wants us to do the research for him or just give him the answers.
Then we'll probably be asked to help write his test plans and test
cases.

Ritesh,
There is a LiveCD based linux distro called BugnuX (http://
www.bugnux.org) that has Selenium by default, so u don't have to even
install it. Just pop the CD, boot and try out selenium, to see if it
can be used for your specific testing needs.

You can check SWExplorerAutomation (SWEA) from http://webius.net. SWEA
records, replays and generates test script code.
