The following is my question:

Given a vector. If I update the jth and ith components, and the update
will affect the next components, such as j+1, j-1, i-1 and i+1. Then
the affect spread out to j+2, j-2, i-2 and i+2, etc. It is kind of like
a wave in a string that will update each side, if I lift two points,
the effect will spread out. The question is, how can I write it down
numerically. Or you could give me some ideas. If the question is not
clear, I could make it more clear. Thank you
