| Howdy,
I currently use my Dell PowerEdge Dedicated Webserver running Windows
2003 Server, to push "progressive" videos via Flash Format to our
visitors.
I'd like to switch to "true streaming" so that our visitors don't have
to download the sometimes 30MB videos - as I'm sure we (still) have
dial up visitors out there somewhere.
I have (2) additional webservers, one for our Intranet, and one
dedicated to SQL databases.
Do I absolutely need to purchase a seperate machine (Dell's PowerEdge
1850 is what Dell Recommends) to push True Streaming? OR can I run
software on one of my existing Webservers to push "True Streaming?"
Even if I got the Recommended Dedicated 1850 machine, would I still
need to purchase additional software such as REAL's streaming server or
Flash's Streaming Server software? OR does the dedicated hardware do
all the work of encoding and determinig user's connection speeds and
adjusting accordingly?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Sincerely,
Chris
