Author close an application

I have a little app that is triggered from a third party program. All it
does is display some data.

If the user doesn't close this app and moves on to another record and then
calls the app again how can I close the first instance?

I have some code that tests to see if the app is running courtesy of the
Access Web but once I have the answer I don't know how to kill the instance
before a new instance loads.

Any ideas? Is this possible?
