.Net Report Viewer control Issue

I am working on converting a program that I wrote using the ActiveX
ReportViewer control to .Net and I have run into a issue with the .net
control.

When I set the reportSource to my report and it goes off to retrive the data
the VB app locks up until the report data has been returned(this is not
happening with the ActiveX control)

The next issue is I am having is how to tell when the report data has been
loaded.
