Hi all,

I have created a Crystal report and when saved, the file size is 10KB...

I have a JPEG file which is 69KB...

When I insert the 69KB JPEG picture into the 10KB CR and then save the file,
the size goes up to 2,564KB (2.5MB)! Is this normal behaviour?

'Crystal Reports - Version 10 Developer Edition'

Thanks for your comments

I have noticed that before, and tried some workarounds, but couldn't come up
with anything. Business Objects (Crystal) has this issue documented back at
version 8 (see
http://support.businessobjects.com/...es/c2008518.asp), but
doesn't seem to have straightened it out at version 10, at least.

:-(

Oh yes, thanks for the link, there is a little workaround on there...
basically convert the jpeg into a bmp! I wonder if it is the same with gif?
I will have to gif it a try.

Thanks again

Oh, I neglected to mention... the BMP thing didn't help me with the file I
used. Pretty much stayed right around the same size. It must be that
Crystal stores an "uncompressed" version of the bitmap. Too bad - for all
of Crystal's power, this is a real negative. I suppose it might speed up
the report generation process a little bit, though, as the decompression
does not need to occur. Just hypothesizing, though...
