also need help w/ formula for displaying payment amount

I am wondering if I can come up with some sort of numbervar formula that
looks at the group in which the record is displayed in and then displays the
payment amount associated with that group.

so if...

if {contact2.UDATE1} in currentdate -90 to currentdate and isnull
({contact2.UYIKES}) then totext ("Group1") else
if {contact2.UDATE2} in currentdate -90 to currentdate and isnull
({contact2.UYOW}) then totext ("Group1") else totext ("Other")

then UPAY1 gets displayed for group1 and UPAY2 takes it's place in group2
