Author Where's the 1.0 CF Device Controls in VS.NET 2005

I've created a SP2003 project in VS.NET 2005 but only got device
controls for CF Framework 2.0 in my toolbox?

Isn't it possible to build 2003 device apps using VS.NET 2005 which
doesn't require the CF2.0 redistributable to be installed on target devices?

John,

Yes it is possible to target CF 1 with VS 2005. Do you have .NET 1.1
installed on your desktop? Did you select a 1.0 device app from the wizard
when you created your app?

I do have .NET v1.1.4322 & .NET v2.0.50727 installed on my machine, and
also .NET CF Framework v1.0.5000.0 & v2.0.0.0.

And yes, I selected the Smartphone 2003 (Device Application (1.0))
project template, and every device control I've got in my toolbox says
"Version 2.0.0.0 from Microsoft Corporation .NET Component" when
hovering the mouse pointer above the controls.

Inside the "Choose Toolbox Items" dialog in VS.NET 2005, and can see for
example two references to the Label control (see below). Both of them
are checked by default.

Name Namespace Assembly Name
Label System.Windows.Forms System.Windows.Forms (2.0.0.0)
Label System.Windows.Forms System.Windows.Forms (1.0.5000.0)

The Label control disappears from my toolbox if I uncheck the 2.0.0.0
reference, even though I still have a reference to the 1.0.5000.0 Label
control.

Are you sure the VS.NET 2005 Form designer supports building forms using
the CF 1.0 controls and nothing else?

John,

I just tried creating a new CF 1.0 project and I only get 1.0.5000.0
controls in the toolbar. It sounds like you may have a bad installation, but
before reinstalling, I'd suggest creating a brand new 1.0 project first.

Thanks for verifying this Ginny, I've created several new 1.0 projects
without success.

Sems like I'll better reinstall the whole machine. I had VS.NET 2005
Beta installed on it prior to installing the VS.NET 2005 Release and
this might have caused this problem.

John,

Yes a previous beta version can cause installation problems for VS 2005.
