| if i develop an application which runs on microsoft smartphone 2003 will it
run in smartphone 2005 in similar way?

yup, 2005 is backward compatibile with 2003. there should be no problem.

| As mentioned in MSDN and from experience, applications that are built
for PPC 2002, 2003 using standard coding practices and API's should run
fine on 2005, unless, the application does not want to take advantage
of newer API's and the older API's havent been deprecated. And as for
"backward compatibility" from 2005=>2003=>2002 one should be very
careful to assume it would work in all cases.
