| I ask the user if they want to remove those settings and files on an
uninstall and I place user-type files outside the application folder and
only remove my own. I've seen WM5 do a "reinstall" and the dialogs are very
specific about what is about to happen so it shouldn't be a surprise.
For a silent reinstall or automated process where the user isn't expected to
know or respond, I could see this as an issue but at least there are ways to
work around it. PPC2003 didn't even have an option of a reinstall so it
seems like a recent change to the OS. There's nothing to prevent Microsoft
from changing it again so I'd shy away from relying on the internal setup
steps as they exist today.
