Most SmartPhones and Pocket PC Phones have a USB port for
syncing/charging... If I found a cable that had the proper ends, could a
SmartPhone or PPC/Phone read the contents of a USB flash drive?

Thanks.

Afraid not, we are as yet to see a Smartphone that can act as USB host
unfortunately!

If you are looking for a way to read a flash drive you currently carry,
you might rethink your approach.

There are a number of very small SD card readers available... for years
I have been using memory cards in place of memory keys, and where the
cards can be read directly by the wm device, the card reader essentially
converts the memory card into a usb key.

To expand a little, USB comes in two flavors, Host and Client. You need a
host (PC) to talk to a client (PPC, SP, USB drive) A client can't talk to a
client. While there are some PPCs that have Host capabilities, it is correct
that at this point, no SPs have.

Thanks for the clarification.
