| Entrek is close to releasing a major upgrade to its Entrek ProcMan tool. We
need some field testing now :)
ProcMan is a tool you run on your desktop to get information about the
software running on a Windows CE device. The information is very useful for
determining memory usage of your software, performance problems, windowing
problems, and much more. New extended information in this release includes
heap and stack size, an integrated virtual memory walker, and thread state.
There is also an integrated Windows Spy with timestamps, message cracking,
and nesting level of messages. The user interface has been overhauled to be
much more intuitive, present information more clearly, and to do
side-by-side comparisons of only the processes you are interested in.
In addition, several command line tools are now available for users that
prefer the command line interface, or who would like to automate tasks in a
batch file. These tools include starting and terminating processes, getting
a process list, resetting the target device, and setting the date or time.
The tools are most useful for product developers and testers, but can be
used by general users, too.
Please send your request to participate in this beta to beta@entrek.com. In
your request, please provide the target CPU and Windows CE version number of
the primary device you would use for testing. We will consider requests
received by February 10, 2006. The beta program closes on March 1, 2006.
To encourage your participation, we will be naming the person who gives us
the best feedback the Entrek Beta MVP. The Entrek Beta MVP will receive a
new Windows Mobile-based Portable Media Center for his or her efforts. You
will have your choice of devices currently available from Creative Zen,
Samsung, or iriver, or can decide to wait until the new version 2.0 devices
are released.
Naming the MVP will be highly subjective, but we will be considering the
number of bug reports (especially if you are the first to find it!), the
quality of the bug reports, and general feedback pertaining to the program
as a whole, supported feature set, usability, feature requests, etc.
