Trouble Connecting to Smartphone

| I'm having trouble connecting to my smartphone from my winxp sp2 computer.
ActiveSync runs fine. But none of the remote tools (eg. registry editor) are
connecting properly. I can't download or debug applications. I've upgraded
to evc4sp4, installed the new spdps, ran it. Still no go. "Platform Manager
was unable to connect to the remote device. Check you server and transport
settings". I've turned off the WinXP sp2 firewall. Still no. "Unable to
loda device side components". Any clues?
Thanks Jean

| hi jean, sounds like the problem i was having. i finally got it
working by disabling my network adapter and installing the microsoft
loopback adapter (thanks riki) which allowed spdps to run successfully.
after spdps completes, you can go back and enable your network adapter
and your tools should still work.

| Thanks Jason. Unfortunately, this still does not work. In
NetworkConnections I disabled all network connections except for the
MicroSoft loopback adapter (which was showing limited or no connectvity).
Then I went to run spdps /create /device but still get the message: "Unable
to sign the required development files. Please uninstall and reinstall eVC
SP2 in order to repair the Platform Manager installation." Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

| In one of my machines, I use to select "Pocket PC 2003" in the Select CE
device dialog to connect to my Smartphone 2003 device! If I select
Smartphone 2003 it would fail to connect!!
Don't know why it works this way...
BTW, I have Win2K and Activesync 3.7 installed in that machine.
