Hi all,

I am playing with a QTEK 8310 smartphone and I am not able to run an
application that is using priviledged APIs.
I tried to provision the certificates in a the phone using the following
command:
- rapiconfig /p SdkCerts.xml

and I receive the following error message:
"Config failed (0x80070005): Access is denied"

So it's seems that the phone is locked for development. It's really strange
because I bought it in a shop without any operator subscription.

First is my analysis correct?
Is it possible to unlock it for development?

Thanks a lot,
Ajay Agrawal

Unfortunately your observations are RIGHT! You can install SDK developer
certificates for development perpose. It is explained in one of these
articles.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/...ne_security.asp

Also search earlier posts to get more information about certificates and
application security.
Hope it will help,
-Ajay

I have run into the exact same problem. I need to execute privileged
instructions to develop an application, but I cannot provision the device
with the privileged developer certificate.

If you need a certificate to develop and cannot provision the developer
certificate, then how are you supposed to debug and test your application?
Eventually the finished product can be signed with the Mobil2Mobil
privileged certificate. During development the device must be able to
accept and use the developer certificate. The privileged certificate has
been created and is in the store on my workstation, but I cannot get
rapiconfig to provision the phone with it. When I set the VS 8 (Visual
Studio 2005) application security setting to provision the device, the code
also fails.

When I use the unprivileged certificate everything is ok, but I cannot of
course execute and test the functions that I need to execute.
Hey Microsoft, how about some support for developers here? Telling us to go
see the mobile operator is about as useful as sending us to the Post Office
for support. Send us Bill's private number. Maybe he can tell us how to
provision a privileged certificate, but I suspect not.

Hi,

I think I've got the same type of phone except its known as Imate SP5.

I've also got the same problem with VS2005 - I can't get anything to deploy
to it. Not even a simple Hello world or any of the sample apps from the SDK.

Is there anyway around this. When you guys talk of the operator are you
refering to the manufacturing or the company your calls go through. In other
words who do you contact to get these things unlocked.

I bought my phone from a local store - they wouldn't have a clue as to whose
SIM card I stuck in it.
