Is there any way to include cgi output in a pre-existing html page?

I have an html page which has a search form processed by my cgi script,
but I'd like the output returned back to the requesting page instead of
the page output from the cgi script. I know this has to be simple, but
I've been looking for quite some time now and haven't been able to
locate an answer.

I've looked through the FAQ, Google, etc. but I can't find anything
similar to what I'm looking for.

thx
